Working with Products and Quote Templates

A Quote Template is a group of Products that are always sold together when performing the same type of work. For example, you may have a "Bathroom - Tub/Shower Remodel" template which only contains the Products needed to remodel the tub/shower area of a bathroom versus a "Bathroom - Full Remodel" template which also includes the Products for replacing the toilet, vanity, sink and related plumbing. You may have optional Products on both templates like Grab Bars, Towel racks or a wall-mounted toilet paper holder. Each item will need to first be created as a Product in your system before it can be added to a Quote or Quote Template. Establishing a good Products database is necessary before you can create Quote Templates or Quotes within the system. Watch this 5-minute video or follow along with the Article below to learn more.

Setting up your Product database 

From the App Launcher menu, navigate to Products

Some of our clients prefer to keep their list of Products simple and generic, while others prefer to be very specific, making sure there is a separate Product record for each and every item that could be sold; whatever you choose to do is up to you, but you will need to know a little bit about your Products first.

Every Product is related to a Product Category in this system, and at minimum you will need to create ONE (1) Product for every Product Category you sell. 

Required data includes the Product Name, Product Category, and List Price to save a Product, but also please pay special attention to the Active Checkbox.

The Active Checkbox determines which products will be available for selection when creating Quotes or Quote Templates. The system also includes a Serviceable checkbox, this allows you to select if this Product should be service-able in the future. 

Creating Quote Templates 

A Quote Template is a group of Products that are always sold together when performing the same type of work. You may have optional Products on both templates like Grab Bars, Towel racks or a wall-mounted toilet paper holder. In this article we will cover how to create Quote Templates and add each Quote Template Item. 

From the App Launcher menu, navigate to Quote Templates 

To create a new Quote Template, click the New button at the top right of your List. 

Quote Template Name is the only required field however, selecting a Product Category is strongly recommended. Also note the Active checkbox is checked by Default. If you are not ready for your Sales team to start working with this Template, be sure to uncheck the Active checkbox until you are ready for other Users to see and use the Quote Template. 

Next, you will add each Product as a Quote Template Item by clicking the Create Quote Template Item button. 

 

Next, select the Product. Note your list of Products will be automatically Filtered by the Product Categories selected on the Quote Template. You can select All to see Products in all Product Categories. When you've found the Product, use the radio button to select it, and enter the Quantity. Note: The Taxable checkbox is unchecked by default. You will want to select Taxable whenever appropriate.  

Note: The List Price will automatically be pulled into the Quote Template Item as the Item Total however, you can allow your Reps to change the price when creating individual Quotes. Remember, this is just our Template to use as a jumping off point when Reps create Quotes. 

Continue adding Quote Template Items until you have all the Products needed for this type of Installation. Some Quote Templates may be very simple while others may contain a large number of Products, it depends on how granular your company would like to be with your Product tracking data.
