Territory can be used to group Address records, Contacts and Accounts by geographic location. Territory can also be used to help your Team assign the appropriate Staff member to an Appointment or Project, based on the Territory(ies) that Staff member works within.
Note: Out-of-the-box Territory field automation is available on the Address object. If you plan to auto-populate the Territory value onto Account, Lead Source, Staff or other Objects, you will need to create a Flow automation to pull Territory data from the related Address record onto the other object.
At the bottom of this Article you'll find a spreadsheet template which can be used to insert Territory records into improveit 360 using the Salesforce Data Loader.
Only System Administrator users will be able to set Territory values for your system.
Watch this 3-minute video and follow along with the click-path article below.
Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen
Navigate to the Setup menu
Search and go to the Picklist Value Sets menu
Click on the Territory field
Scroll down to the Values section and review the active Values within your system.
If you no longer do work in a certain Territory, click Deactivate to remove it from your Global Territories.
If you are setting up your system for the first time, or start advertising in a different way, you can add to this list by clicking the New button.
From here, type each Territory value on a separate line, and click Save.
Note: The system will prevent you from creating duplicate values and will alert you to the duplicates. In this example, I am trying to add "Cleveland" it is already a Value in the field.
To change the Order in which the Values appear in the field, click the Reorder button.
Use the up and down arrows to change the order of the values within the field.
Click Save when finished making changes to this field.
The Territory Picklist Value Set is used to set the Territory value on all custom object fields labeled Territory(ies). In some cases the field may be a single-select Picklist (like on an Address record).
In other cases, Territories will be a multi-select Picklist (like on the Staff object).
The lookup to Territories on the Staff object allows appointment schedulers to know who works in each Territory and can best align a Sales Rep or Installer with an Address.
On an Address record, use the Lookup field to find the correct Territory.
Note: If you are doing a Data Conversion, our team will load Address records and will link them to a Territory.
Your team will need to setup Global Territory values as well as Territory records or supply our Data Conversion team with a spreadsheet of your territories.
On each Address record, an automation can auto-assign the Territory value. See also: Setup Territory Field Weighting
