Customize Compact Layout

First, a Compact Layout is used when you hover-over a record name in the Lightning user interface. For example, from the Sale page, we can hover-over the related Sales Appointment to see specific data from that record. The Compact Layout is also used at the top of the Record page to display critical information about the record. Here are the two examples of where the Compact Layout is used on the page: 

When hovering over the Project Number from the Sale page: 

When on the Project record page, the Compact Layout appears at the top of the page: 

Different organizations using improveit 360 may want to display different fields in the compact layout for each object. This Article covers how to edit your Compact Layouts.

In the example below, we are hovering over a Sales Appointment record from a different record page. We want to add the Status and Status Detail fields to this Compact layout. 

Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen

Navigate to the Setup menu 

Click on the Object Manager

Choose the appropriate Object (in this example, we're changing the compact layout for the Sales Appointment records). 

Next choose Compact Layouts

and Select the appropriate Compact Layout 

If you have not modified the Compact Layout before, you will need to Clone it as this is also part of the Managed package. 

NOTE: If you do not Clone and you Add your own Custom Fields to the Managed Compact Layout, every time there is a Product Release and the system is updated, the Compact Layout will be reverted back to the original Fields in the Managed Compact Layout. ALWAYS Clone the Compact Layout to add fields. 

Note: You are limited to seeing six (6) fields in addition to the record Name in the Compact Layout. 

Next you'll want to set the Compact Layout Assignment to be sure the new Compact Layout is being used across your organization. 

Set the Primary Compact Layout to the one you've just created. 

Click Save. 

Now navigate to any record which shows a link to the Sales Appointment record. Hover-over the Sales Appointment Name and you will see the changes you've made to your Compact Layout.

Note: Only six (6) fields are visible from the Compact Layout. Choose the fields carefully.
