The objects which are supported, and the Texting Component can be added to the Lightning Page for the following objects:
- Contact
- Sales Opportunity
- Sales Appointment
- Sale
- Payment
- Project
- Project Activities
For more information on setting up Texting Templates, see also: Texting Template setup
To add the texting component to a Lightning record page, navigate to the Page where you plan to add the Texting Component to. In this example I will add the texting component to the Sales Appointment page.
On any Sales Appointment, click the Gear Icon in the upper-right corner and then click Edit Page.
Scroll down to the Custom - Managed components on the left side of the page:
Locate the Text Conversation component and drag and drop it onto the record Page where you would like it to appear.
Save and then click Activation
Make the new Record Page the Org Default for both desktop and mobile.
Click the back arrow to exit the Lightning App Builder
Now, on the Sales Appointment record page you should see the Texting Component, as well as be able to select Texting Templates related to the Sales Appointment object:
The texting component can be added to any of the following object's record page:
- Account
- Contact
- Sales Opportunity
- Sales Appointment
- Sale
- Payment
- Project
- Project Activities
Note: You will only be able to use Texting Templates related to the Sales Appointment object from the Sales Appointment page. If you need to use a template related to the Sale, then you will need to add the texting component to the Sale page as well, and send the template from there.
Note: Be sure that if your Template uses a Merge Field, that the field is populated on the record. For example, if you use the Sales Rep's Name in the template and there is no Sales Rep assigned to the Sales Appointment, the text message will have a Blank value where a Name should be.
Troubleshooting:
If a User receives this error message when going to the Account page or another page with the Texting Component, this means that they do not have access to the folders where the Texting Templates are stored.
Resolution: Add all affected Users to the All Internal Users Public Group. then go to Email Templates > All Folders > select the dropdown arrow for Texting Templates and click Share.
Share with Public Group All Internal Users then click Share.
